EVENT LOCATION: Royer Park, Roseville, CA.

PARKING, ROYER PARK LAYOUT, AND RIDE & PARK EVENT LOCATIONS: There is no one single, large parking area for Royer Park. Rather, there are a handful of smaller areas. All are easily accessible to the sign-in area. Riders arriving later in the day may have to check more than one area. We have supplied an online map below showing all the parking areas highlighted in blue. Remember that Park Drive is one-way so please study the maps at the following link to plan your driving as needed:

  • Directions from Interstate 80: Exit I-80 at Douglas Blvd and head west. Turn right (north) at S Lincoln St (one-way) following signs to Royer Park. Turn left at Sutter Ave and park near Oak Street, or turn left at Park Dr (one-way) to Royer Park. Also review the maps using the links above to identify parking areas.

PARK EVENT START TIMES:Plan to arrive early if you'll be parking and locating the group.

  • 12:00-2:00 - The food will be served from
  • 1:30 - Matt & his family will be introduced
  • 1:45 - The raffle starts (must be present to win)
  • 2:00 - Silent Auction Closes

RIDE EVENT START TIMES AND STAGING:Plan to arrive early if you'll be parking and locating the group. Rides will be staged and begin from the parking lot located on Oak Ave. Consider using the parking garage located between Grant and Taylor on Oak Ave (400 block).The following are suggested ride starting times. You may want or need to start earlier or later depending on your capabilities and when you would like to arrive back at the park (especially for the BBQ and raffle, which begin at 12pm and 1:30pm respectively!). Riders will be staggered as they leave the staging area to reduce congestion on the trail and to promote safety. You are welcome to depart earlier than the posted times. Our ride leaders and chaperones will lead out the ride for various distances at the following times:

  • 6:30 am - Check-In and Registration Opens (see event location map links above for location)

70 Mile Ride Info (Red Route)

  • 8am - 70 Mile Ride Leaders and Chaperones Lead Out Riders
  • 9am - 10:30am - Rest Stop at Mile 23 Open
  • 10:00am - 12:30pm -Rest Stop at Mile 53.2 Open
  • 2:00pm - SAG Vehicles will Leave Course (SAG = Support & Gear)

35 Mile Ride Info (Blue Route)

  • 9:30 - 35 Mile Ride Leaders and Chaperones Lead Out Riders
  • 10:00-12:30 – Trailhead Coffee Aid Station and Rest Stop at Mile 19.2 Open
  • 2:00 - SAG Vehicles Leave the Course (SAG = Support & Gear)

10 Mile Ride Info (Green Route)

  • 11:30 - 10 Mile Ride Leaders and Chaperones Lead Out Riders

SAFETY, AID, SUPPORT & GEAR:

  • All rides will have Ride Chaperons for assistance.

  • Routes will be marked using color coded Route Arrows on the trail or road (Green for 10 mile route; Blue for 35 mile route, and Red for 70 mile route). Special thanks to RouteArrows.com for donating the route arrows.

  • Aid Stations for 70 mile Red Route:
    Mini aid station will be located at McBean Park in Lincoln (mile 23; water/bathroom).
    Full aid station at Trailhead Coffee & Cycling Lounge (mile 53; water/food/bathroom/mechanical support)

  • Aid Stations for 35 mile Blue Route:
    Full aid station at Trailhead Coffee & Cycling Lounge (mile 19; water/food/bathroom/mechanical support)

  • SAG (Support & Gear) will be provided for major mechanicals or biomechanicals.

Ride Rules & Recommendations

  • Helmets required for all cyclists
  • Carry water, nutrition, & repair items just in case
  • Follow all traffic laws (this is not a closed course and traffic laws DO apply)
  • Keep to the right on trails and roads
  • Be respectful and courteous to fellow trail users and motorists (smile and wave!)
  • Call out “car-back” to others to notify that a car is approaching from behind
  • "Single-up" and ride in a single file when appropriate and/or necessary

This effort is being led by volunteers who simply felt called to help Matt in his time of need. Most of us are cyclists who may know Matt as a friend or just as an acquaintance. Some of us have never even met Matt, but can relate to his plight and want to help.
